 State Testing Is Coming Up:
                   7th & 8th Graders

Every year, we are required to assess the academic growth of our students.  Like last year, our students will be taking the Smarter Balanced Assessment for Mathematics and English Language Arts (ELA).  These assessments will be given over a five day period for each grade level.  The test is made up of two parts for each subject area: Performance Task and Computer Adaptive Test.  The Performance Task requires students to analyze written information (articles, diagrams, etc.) and apply the information to a task, such as a multi-paragraph essay for English or designing an item for math.  The Computer Adaptive Test consists of a variety of question types: multiple choice, short answer, selection, etc.  These questions may be stand alone or related to a reading passage or informational piece (nutrition label, map, etc.).

In addition to the Smarter Balance Assessment, eighth graders are required to take the Science MSP.  This test is used to assess their understanding of scientific procedures and basic science knowledge.

All tests will begin at the start of the school day. Attached you will find the tentative testing schedule:

Why College Bound?

8th Graders Forms Need to be Submitted by June 30, 2015!

Is it not just for college – this is a scholarship that will pay for any educational or training costs that our students on free/reduced lunch may need after graduation.

For example – to be a mechanic or nursing assistant, training is required. Having this College Bound promise will pay for the training or education that your son or daughter would need to begin in the workplace. There is a list of technical and training programs, as well as colleges, available. For more info, check out the College Bound website.

The application takes less than 10 minutes to complete.
