 A note from our Principal:

Happy Summer Orchard Heights Community,

Over the past several weeks the language options survey has been open to solicit feedback on what language Orchard Heights should choose as their second language of instruction. With our incorporation of the International Baccalaureate PYP program at our school we have the opportunity to teach students a second language. The results from the Orchard Heights IB language survey are as follows:

Spanish    64%

Japanese 12%

Mandarin  8%

German     9%

French        7 %

With analyzing the results of our survey, our school community has chosen Spanish as our language option for our second language being taught with the incorporation of International Baccalaureate PYP at Orchard Heights. Thank you to everyone that took the time to make this happen. If you have any questions or concerns please let me know.

Have a wonderful and relaxing summer,

Mark Gudger, Principal

SKSD Highly Capable Services Program Overview
Highly capable service options at SKSD include a variety of options per grade level.  All services emphasize higher order thinking skills.  A wide range of instructional strategies are utilized to ensure that the diverse learning needs/styles are met for all students.
The highly capable program was developed in order to address the special needs of highly capable students.  The program focuses on academic rigor, social and emotional needs, creative and critical thinking.  We strive to provide students challenging and stimulating curriculum along with the opportunity to be among their intellectual peers.  We also create a positive environment where individual ideas and risk-taking are valued.  Nominated students are tested each spring for services the following year.  Information is available on SKSD's website under "Student Center".

  • Thank you Orchard Heights PTSO for the donation of beauty bark for our campus.  We have been working hard getting the grounds to look in tip top shape for the school year.

Would you like to help sprucing up?  We will be hosting a campus beautification day on Saturday, August 29th from 9:00AM until Noon.  Bring the family, shovels, yard tools, gloves etc. to help spruce up the Orchard Heights grounds.  After the event we will be having hot dogs, chips and water as a way to thank those who have helped.  Hope to see you there!
