Last Week’s Kindergarten Meeting

I met with all of the kindergarten teachers, all day, last Thursday. They gave feedback regarding their common assessments and reporting. A few items needed refining but for the most part the group was pleased with the work they had done. The assessments are good and aligned with the Common Core. The key piece of feedback is that there is not enough time in the day to get all of the assessing done without interrupting instruction. I will be sharing their feedback with our union and administrators. Basically, their united message is that this work is too good to let it go—they just need support to get it done while ensuring instruction continues. They brainstormed some fabulous ideas for making it work. The group reflected on the process—and growth—they experienced and said it was incredibly valuable.
