Star of the Week

Mrs. Georgeson’s Kindergarten Class

Scroll down to see the Star of the Week Schedule. Do you see an open week that works better for you? Just let me know!

For one week, your child will be the ‘Star’ of the classroom. This activity requires some help from you! Before your child’s week, I will send a reminder home regarding what week your child is the star and what will be needed. I try to coordinate your child’s Star of the Week with his/her birthday.

Monday—Photos

Please send up to 15 photos to display in the classroom. Photos will not be stapled but there is a chance small fingers will touch them as they point to the pictures. I will discuss the importance of looking without touching. Since most families have pictures on the computer, feel free to send in a CD with pictures instead the photos being displayed and we will look at the photos on the computer.

Tuesday—Favorite Book

The star of the week brings one of his/her favorite picture books to read to the class (or have the teacher read to the class).

Wednesday—Snack

·  Special Snack—Your child may bring a special snack to share with the class. We can have up to 26 students so please send enough for all. Due to district rules, the snack MUST BE STORE BOUGHT because of health code regulations. If you would rather not send a snack, please let me know before Tuesday so that I can happily provide one. Snacks should be simple—one item per child is plenty. Usually, families send in one item like a cookie, one large bag of chips (we can divide it up when passing it out), apple pieces, cupcakes, etc. Simple is my preference!

·  Some parents would rather send the snack on their child’s birthday if their child’s birthday does not fall on Wednesday. This is not a problem—please just call or send an e-mail letting me know so I can schedule it into the day.

Friday—Special Sharing

Your child may bring an extra special sharing. This is a great time to share a pet, favorite toy, sibling (babies are always a hit), special talent or anything else that is important to your child. If your child wants to share a pet, please contact me so that I can set up a time. Pets now need to be approved by the principal before coming to the school—which I will do. I can be flexible on days for the special sharing (Friday is not the only day available—I know work schedules don’t always work out) if a family member is needed for the special sharing. We will go outside to see the pet.
