Hiking in the Olympic Mountains.
~Candace Barich~
I love being a teacher and am excited about beginning my eleventh year of teaching. It is a joy to work with amazing students! I graduated with a degree in education from Western Washington University, earned Washington State's Professional Certification through Pacific Lutheran University, and am a National Board Certified Teacher with a Middle Childhood Generalist certificate. I love to learn about the complex, everchanging profession of educating so take classes every summer about teaching.  I marvel at the complexities of the human brain and find it fascinating to see how many different ways students learn. My hope for all of my students is that they would have a friend and be a friend, show compassion to others, and know the joy of learning everyday!
When I am not teaching, I love to spend time with my three children, cook, hike, camp, crab, clam and read!
   This year's reads include:
What is the What, by David Eggers (Lost Boys of Sudan)
Loving Frank, by Nancy Horan (My son's desire to be an architect has piqued my fascination with Frank Lloyd Wright.)
The Art of Racing in the Rain (I'll never look at a dog the same again!)
