It’s noon. My baseball team is in the championship game. It’s top of the ninth inning, the other team’s best hitter is up and our best pitcher is pitching. Our pitcher nails two strikes and three balls. It’s full count. The batter WHACKS the ball in the sky and it whistles in the clouds. It comes speeding down to me in center-field. I gently lift my glove and close my eyes, hoping the ball will just land and stay in my glove. I hear a crash. I open my eyes and look in my glove and see the red and white sphere just sitting in my mitt.

It’s so close to August. I feel I’m diving right in that cold pool of water, swimming, swimming as fast as I can to get away from everything and everyone. Free falling through water, hearing nothing, nothing at all, my eyes closing. When they open up again, I am in my bed, sitting there.

Pump Pump Pumpkin Pie
Pumpkin pie is the best
Thanksgiving dessert
because if you eat it
right out of the oven
it has the warm and melty taste
and the crunchy crust
it makes you want to die.
If you have the pumpkin pie
with a small side of whipped cream
it’s actually a lot softer.
After that rich fluffy aftertaste
kicks in
you can’t put it down.
The aroma is just better than heaven
with a small serving
it’s just delightful.
