5th Grade Quest
OVERVIEW OF OUR YEAR
Our focus this year is SCIENCE!! We will complete several physics experiments and activities in class while mastering the scientific method and science project expectations. I hope some of the 5th graders will take his or her Science Project to the State Science Fair on April 5th and 6th, 2013. We will also continue to enhance our communication, critical and creative thinking skills through a variety of class activities.
Research
Our research project will focus on science. Rather than completing a traditional student-directed study, this project will follow a science fair project format.

Creativity
Developing and creating your own perfect playground will be our creative project for this year. Your playground will inclued at least eight different elements, as well as a brochure that advertises and explains your project. You will have the opportunity to create a three-dimensional version of one or more elements of your playground. This project will allow you to use your creative thinking and problem solving skills to plan and create the perfect playground.

Critical and Creative Thinking
We will continue to explore and use Bloom's Taxonomy, Six Thinking Hats, and the creative problem solving process.
