MW Guidance and Counseling

Junior high is a time of great growth and change; it can also be a time of confusion and stress.  A student's physical, emotional, and social wellness can greatly impact the junior high experience.

We are here, simply, to assist each student to have his or her time in school be its best.  So, don't hesitate to call upon us by email, phone, or personal appointment.

Registration Forms for Next Year 2013-14 Were Due in March...
Late Registration was held each morning before Parent Conferences.
So, if you did not turn in your registration form for next year, we have needed to choose your electives for you based up space available.  The only exceptions could be academic planning for graduation reasons for freshmen only through your counselors.  Use the "schedule change" procedure in the Fall by completing a Schedule Change Request form within the first four days of classes.
Those freshmen (Class of 2016) did a most wonderful job turning in Sophomore Registrations for SKHS this year!  Way to go guys!  You saved much angst and repetitive reminding for everyone -- AND you have the best chance now of getting the classes you need for next year.

Speaking of Awesome Freshmen of 2013 ---
Out of Marcus' freshmen class of 282 students, 51 students are recipients of the President's Award for Educational Excellence.  To qualify for this national award, students earned a 3.5 or better cumulative GPA from 7th grade through 9th grade at Marcus.  In addition, these students earned Level 4 in either Reading or Math MSP results.  This is the largest group of students (and by far largest percentage of class) earning this award that represents three years of every day academic effort and excellence.  Congratulations !!!
Furthermore, 69 freshmen have maintained a 3.5 GPA for grades 7-9, and 136 students have earned a cum GPA of over 3.0.  The number of freshmen who have cum GPAs of over 2.0 is 230!  Way to go Class of 2013!!!  You will be missed here at Marcus, and we wish you the best in your life endeavors.
