• Welcome to Manchester Kindergarten!

    Dear Manchester Kindergarten Families,

I am very excited for your child to be joining our classroom this year and becoming one of the Manchester Cougars! I hope you had a wonderful, safe, relaxing summer and are ready for school to begin. This is going to be an exciting year full of fun and educational activities!

A little bit about myself... I was born in Michigan and moved to the beautiful state of Washington the summer before third grade. I attended the Puyallup School District until I was a junior in High School, upon which my family moved to the Peninsula School District. After graduating from Peninsula High School, I moved to Pullman to attend Washington State University where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education.

My teaching philosophy revolves around three major concepts. The first of which is to recognize individual differences. As passé as this may sound, each child is unique and different. We all have our strengths and our challenges, by acknowledging these distinctions, I (along with our wonderful Manchester team) will be better suited to fit your child’s needs. The second concept is to form relationships with each student. Creating a personal relationship is a critical key to unlocking a child’s success and teaching to the whole child. Lastly, I believe in letting the students do all that they can. Allowing students the choice and opportunity to have a part in the creation of routines, expectations, and teaching and learning enables them to have an invested part in the school year.

This year is going to be a major milestone for your child. I am excited to share in the wonder with you. Remember...how you react will trigger your child’s reaction. Think positive! Children are little sponges. Your role in school is a valuable and essential part in your child’s education. I would love for you to become involved in any way possible. Parent volunteers are a crucial part of any classroom. Please let me know if you’re interested in helping.

If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or celebrations the best way to reach me is via email at troyer@skitsap.wednet.edu. Always feel free to send a note with your child or call the office at 360-443-3350. And don’t forget to check out my teacher website at: http://www.skitsap.wednet.edu//Domain/1689.

    Sincerely,

    Miss Jenna Troyer

P.S. Did you know that kindergarten is German for “children’s garden?” I’m excited to get to know the children in my garden this year.
