Tom is a veteran of the US Army and spent 18 years working as a carpenter before returning to school in the 1990's and graduating from Florida State University in 1997 that same year he began  his new career as a teacher. Tom is in his sixth year of teaching at Discovery and considers it the best, most enjoyable, and most rewarding job he has ever had.
