Washington Achievement Award

Congratulations!  Orchard Heights Elementary is a recipient of the 2011 Washington Achievement Award.

The Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction and the State Board of Education created the Washington Achievement Award to celebrate our top-performing schools and to recognize achievement in multiple categories.  This highly selective award is based on your school’s performance according to the Washington Achievement Index, a comprehensive measurement of how schools in Washington are performing over time.  The Washington Achievement Award is given to elementary, middle, high and comprehensive schools in seven different categories: overall excellence, language arts, math, science, extended graduation rate (high and comprehensive schools only), improvement and closing achievement gaps. Orchard Heights Elementary is being recognized for:

Special Recognition - Improvement

Special Recognition - Closing Achievement Gaps

On April 25 we will celebrate your achievement at an awards ceremony hosted by Mariner High School in Everett (invitation to follow). If you are unable to join us at Mariner, you will receive your award from your local Educational Service District at a later date.

We hope you will visit OSPI’s Education Awards pages to learn more about the Washington Achievement Awards, including details on the Washington Achievement Index and the criteria for selection.

Again, we congratulate you on this achievement. Your staff, students, parents and community can take pride in joining this distinguished group.
