Soroptimists Raise $7,125 for SKSD Teen Parents' Kids

Each year Soroptimist of Port Orchard selects a local program as their focus for the “Fund an Item” component of their annual “Fantasy in February” auction event. This year they raised $7,125 to provide READY! for Kindergarten training and materials for Discovery Alternative High School teen parents. Learning begins at home, and so does school readiness. READY! for Kindergarten supports the child’s first teacher—the parent(s)-- by sharing powerful ways to talk, read, sing, and play to make learning at home fun and effective. These simple interactions lay the foundation for all future learning.  This generous donation will fund two years of READY! for Kindergarten to these teen parents.
