What a beautiful day. It was so hard to stay inside today. Thankfully, Mrs. Chandler called for a picnic lunch today. Everyone got to eat outside and enjoy the stunning, warm day. The kids came back to class refreshed and red cheeked.
Today we worked on figuring out possible problems for our upcoming realistic fiction story in writing. The children have come up with some very creative problems for their characters. We will start to figure out the solution to those problems in a couple of days. We also enjoyed a day of reading. I moved around the room listening to children read and put new books in their hands. I love these kind of days.
Math was a day to review. We practiced some multiple choice math problems online and reviewed some vocabulary that they may see tomorrow. The children seem confident and ready to go. Please don't forget their snack bags for tomorrow. Those personal notes really do make the difference after a long chunk of testing.
In science, we learned about the three different kinds of joints in our bodies. 1. Ball-and-socket joints are where you can move in a rotation (only your shoulders and hips), 2. Hinge joints are where you can only move in one direction (knees, elbows, and the end two joints of each finger and thumb), 3. Gliding joints are where you can move in two directions (these make up the majority of the joints in our body). See if your child can explain the three to you and give examples. We had a lot of fun figuring out the joints in our body. Next we'll be making connections between our joints and those of a chicken and rodent (don't worry, they are plastic).
Homework for tonight is to get a good night's rest and eat a healthy breakfast tomorrow.
