June 6th

WOW! What a busy day. We had plenty of deadlines today so the children were working very hard to get everything done. I am so excited to share pictures with you tomorrow on our new projects.

We have a comment option on our blog now. I am so excited. Next week, your child's homework will be to post a comment on our blog. There will be a question at the bottom for them to answer. This will be great for them to learn before the summer. I'm hoping to keep a book blog over the summer and would love to hear what the kids are reading. I'm also hoping to share book trailers with them about books released over the summer. I'd love to hear their thoughts about them.

The last few days, we have been working on Creature Alliteration poems. Today, the children had to complete their poems so we can begin new poems tomorrow. They were asked to write their work in cursive. I must say that they are very well done. I am proud to put them up in the hallway to brag about. I have a feeling that I'll be giving plenty of cursive licenses this year.

We continued to work on our castle today. The children added such wonderful details. I am so excited to share pictures...that is if I can remember the camera at home. Ugh! Pictures will be posted tomorrow. We also need to send out a BIG thank you to Mr. Frese for all of his help. He helped build us an incredible drawbridge. The children are so excited about it. Thank you also to everyone who sent in supplies. You'll see that they were put to good use. The children were so creative in their work. Yesterday, before starting our building project, we watched a clip to inspire them. Here is the link to Cain's Arcade...a great inspirational clip about a kid who builds arcade games out of cardboard.

What a great way to spend the summer...using your imagination instead of watching TV and playing video games.
