Kate Grieve
South Kitsap High School Dance Team Coach

Kate Grieve

Hello all!  My name is Kate Grieve.  Some would say I was destined to work at Cedar Heights.  I grew up in a home of educators.  Being a dancer at an eastern Washington high school, I had the opportunity to meet people from South Kitsap High School at drill team camp when I was a sophomore.  One of the girls I met told me about the junior high team she had been on prior to being on the SKHS Drill Team.  She had gone to Cedar Heights.

Fast forward a couple of years.  While attending Central Washington University, I met a guy by the name of Eric Grieve.  I asked him which high school he had attended.  He told me I would never have heard of it.  I dared him to try me.  He said South Kitsap, and I immediately began with "South, South Kitsap Wolves, South Kitsap, Kitsap Wolves.....".  He replied "I guess you've heard of it."  He also told me that the school that had impacted him most as a student had been Cedar Heights Junior High.

Eric and I got married in August of 1997.  After a couple of years in eastern Washington, Eric was given an opportunity to become a teacher at Cedar Heights.  That was the fall of 2000.  At the time I worked in the retail sector, but I soon joined Eric by becoming an office assistant at Cedar HeightsI have been here since the fall of 2002  and became the Attendance Specialist in the spring of 2005.

My favorite part of working at Cedar Heights is working with the students and their families.  I have been blessed to be the dance team coach here in some capacity since 2001, and we have worked hard to develop a program where the students excel in the classroom and in performance.  This year I have moved on and am the coach of the South Kitsap High School Dance Team.

Every year I take on new challenges.  I work in the cheer and dance industry as a judge of regional, national, and international competitions and also get the opportunity to consult for some of the top cheer and dance programs in the WORLD!  Besides that, I am currently attending Kaplan University to obtain my Bachelor's degree in Health and Wellness.  I should have that completed by the spring of 2011.  After that I would like to pursue a couple of Master's degrees and ultimately a Doctorate in Athletic Administration.  What I will use the degrees for will remain to be seen, but I look forward to an adventure.

Eric and I love to travel, cheer on former students in their endeavors, and boating.  This summer we took a trip to Alaska.  It was the first time Eric had ever been there and my first visit in the summer.  We had a great time visiting friends and seeing the beautiful state!

If you would like, stop by the Cedar Heights main office and say hi.  I look forward to making your experience, whether as a student, parent, staff member or guest an exceptional one!
